Only One

Can you name the first mass produced product having interchangeable parts? To the best of my knowledge it was the cotton gin which was invented by Eli Whitney in 1794. It may very well be that without the invention of the cotton gin the American Civil War would never have occurred (but that is another story).

There are many things in this world that exist in multiples but there are some things of which only one exists.

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

Only one God

“That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.”

Only one Gospel

Only One who can purge our sins

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”

Only One who can save

His was a perfect sacrifice, a perfect offering, a perfect purging of sins. And he did this all by himself. No earthly priest was involved in this or could be involved. No human works of any kind would do. No religious rituals were of any use whatsoever. He purged our sins by himself. We must trust him alone for salvation.

“This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders,

which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Acts 4:11-12
